Each year, the grey London spring is made brighter by the arrival of BFI Flare Festival – one of the most prestigious LGBT film festivals in the world. For 10 days BFI Southbank becomes the home to a brilliantly diverse selection of international queer films and filmmakers. It’s one of my industry highlights of the year.
Three years ago Flare showed their commitment to nurturing emerging talent and established a mentorship scheme, which sees six emerging LGBT-identified filmmakers mentored by a senior figure from the film industry while developing industry knowledge, professional connections, and gaining an overview of LGBT features entering the marketplace.
I was delighted to be selected as a BFI Flare Mentee 2017 along with this truly brilliant cohort of fellow filmmakers. You can read more about us mentees here:
